The 2023 Air Quality Monitoring Discussion and Air Quality Control Strategy Through Low Emission Zones was organized by the Jakarta Environmental Agency together with the Clean Air Catalyst, to facilitate sharing of information about the state of AQ in Jakarta in 2023 and a panel discussion to explore the potential of LEZ as strategic solutions for AQ improvement in Jakarta.
Some key highlights that were shared during the sessions include:
Updating transport sector emission inventory and source apportionment done in 2023 (with Prof Puji Lestari) : Preliminary findings show that HDV truck and passenger cars (diesel) are the most contributor to PM2.5 and Black Carbon (BC). HDV contribues 28.6% and 38.9%, while passenger cars 27% and 32.5%.
Proudly reported that CAC contributed to strengthening the capacity of reference-grade Air Quality Monitoring Stations in Jakarta with additional 3 new locations for PM2.5 and 4 unit of Black Carbon monitoring in current DLH stations
Pushing toward Clean Air Actions through Strategic Coalition, CAC is proposing for the implementation of equitable Low Emission Zone (LEZ) or Clean Air Zones and the session on 17th of Jan was the first inter-agencies discussion to advocate for the solution. The LEZ is considered to be a strategic solution as it is Aligned with SPPU with regard to Governor Decree 576, particularly on supporting the action plan to address mobile sources of air pollution (transportation sector)
