From Data to Action

Our approach follows a multi-step process, focusing not only on creating lasting solutions that are specific to each city, but also on creating strategic coalitions.

We believe in understanding the sources of pollution, creating strategic coalitions and empowering women as community leaders and clean air catalysts, engaging them as co-designers for clean air solutions to enact long-lasting change.

Building Blocks of Our Approach

Clean Air Catalyst is piloting an innovative data-to-impact methodology focused on:

Source Awareness

Building a clear, commonly held, and personally salient knowledge of the sources of air pollution by addressing key information and data gaps among a diverse group of local stakeholders, including those whose health and livelihoods are most affected by air pollution or its potential solutions.

Solutions Design

Identifying the most effective interventions that can tackle the underlying causes of specific emissions activities, including the social, political, and behavioral drivers of pollution.

Cross-cutting Objectives

By prioritizing reductions of pollutants and pollution sources that disproportionately impact the well-being of vulnerable populations and women, as well as those that play a dual role of causing climate change, our consortium is also focused on maximizing climate, health, gender equity and development benefits.

Strategic Coalitions

Engaging allies beyond the traditional environmentally focused regulators and agencies to include other local government institutions, the private sector and community partners that together can cut through the economic and political bottlenecks that have slowed clean air action in the past.

Leveraging Partners Strengths to Deliver and Sustain Cleaner Air.

Through our pilot projects, Clean Air Catalyst will create a practical, field-tested playbook for convening key stakeholders, identifying and building awareness of air quality priorities.
