Q&A on Air Pollution and Health with Indore’s Chief Medical and Health Officer

By Sudhir Gore, June 24, 2024

The Clean Air Catalyst Indore team’s Sudhir Gore recently sat down with the city’s Chief Health and Medical Officer (CMHO), Dr. Bhure Singh Setia, for an interview on the intersections of air pollution and health.

In the interview, Dr. Setia outlined some of the most concerning health conditions exacerbated by air pollution for key age groups and explained how Indore’s health department is raising awareness by integrating the issue into training programs, such as the ASHA health workers training that the Catalyst helped conduct last year. He also emphasized the importance of reducing transportation-related air pollution by making public transportation options—such as Indore’s new metro line—more accessible.
